The Green Olympiad is India’s first annual examination on environmental issues for middle and senior school students. The examination is designed innovatively to test the knowledge of students and also educate and sensitize them in the process. The only one of its kind in India, the Green Olympiad asks questions arising from issues such as air and water pollution, environment-friendly initiatives and practices, land and water resources, forests, wildlife, oceans, socio-economic aspects of natural resources, global climate change, and the roles of society to improve our environment.
Eligibility :
Students in class 8 through 10 currently studying in a public, private, government or a residential school
Important Dates:
Last Date for Registration: August 7, 2009
Exam Date: September 26, 2009

I wish to state that I am a student of class-IX of Kendriya Vidyalaya No-1, Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh, who ranked 5th in the Green Olympiad 2008. The Green Olympiad 2009 is scheduled to be organised on 26th September 2009. But Durga Puja, an important festival of the hindus, is going to be celebrated on these particular days. On 26th September itself, it is the Maha-Astami. Moreover, during these days it will be the Autumn Vacation of Kendriya Vidyalayas, one of your partners. Due to this a large number of students may be hampered of their studies for the olympiad. I, along with some other students, therefore, request your honor to prepone the said olympiad and schedule it on 19th September 2009, which is also a Saturday. We request you to go deep into the matter and take necessary action.
