Program Coordinator Internship In World Learning International Development organization At Burma
Introduction:
World Learning, a global non-profit organization, (www.worldlearning.org) has an immediate vacancy for a Program Coordinator for a “Capacity Building for Change” project in Rangoon, Burma. Duration: 2 years. Summary:
The Program Coordinator will provide leadership and direction for the implementation of all project components – teacher training, distance education and training of trainers – and ensure that all proposed project objectives and targets are achieved. He or she will manage local and expatriate staff, oversee the creation and implementation of performance management and work plans, provide reports to the donor, maintain effective relations and coordination with all project stakeholders and serve as primary in-country liaison with the donor. He or she will be a skilled and experienced manager of capacity building programs with a background in training.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Supervise local and expatriate field staff
- Write quarterly reports
- Facilitate Training for local participants
- Create and implement performance management plans
- Liaise with donor and partner organizations
- Manage field budget
- Create and oversee participant recruitment and internship plans
- Directly manage Distance Education program
- Support the creation and modification of training curriculum
Required Qualifications:
- Five to seven years of international development project leadership experience preferably with USAID.
- Bachelor’s Degree in International Affairs, Public Administration, International Business Administration, Economics or related field
- Experience facilitating training
- Strong organizational skills; exceptionally responsive and detail-oriented
- Ability to work independently without close supervision, to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and to work with personnel of varying backgrounds
- Evidence of interpersonal/intercultural skills and sensitivity
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work successfully in a challenging operational environment
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with teacher training
- Familiarity with experiential learning approaches
- Experience with civil society capacity building
- Ability to work successfully in a challenging operational environment
- Licensure as an SIT teacher trainer
- Fluency in a language other than English
- Experience working in difficult operating environments.
